J&D launches NEW split-core current transformer with Revenue-Grade metering 2016

Advanced engineers of revenue-grade smart metering systems are concerned with choosing the best split-core current transformers(CTs) that provide high quality measurement, without having to disconnect power during installation. Additionally, engineers want to avoid problems with CTs pertaining to teperature change, vibration, shock and position error, while at the same time paying attention to the new installation safety requirements(UL2808).

J&D has two high tech CTs available to solve these concerns. The JPS revenue-grade split-core CT has a nickel core and specially designed housing to provide and maintain high accuracy reading. The new JRFS is a revenue-grade Rogowski coil that uses dual air cores to achieve high accuracy. Here, we introduce the individual features of the JPS and JRFS-RM lines to provide the best CT solution for engineers of revenue-grade smart metering systems.

 

JPS series revenue-grade split-core CTs

The JPS series offers a wide range of rated current from 5A to 1,600A with inner diameters of 10, 20, 33, and 52mm. The JPS series has a nickel core which is one of the best materials for high accuracy measurement relative to phase shift and ratio error. However, having a nickel core is not the only factor to influence accuracy.

The JPS series of CTs solves issues with the ‘air gap’ between the two nickel(split) cores which can change over time due to temperature variations, vibration, imprecision, and assembly. The JPS design takes into account the nickel core’s physical properties as well as the housing material to from superior and tight fit that other CTs do not achieve. The housing material is selected to maintain the tight closure and eliminate air gap issues which effect accuracy. This attention to detail results in a long term, high accuracy split-core CT installation.

The JPS series supports the various secondary output values of 100mV, 250mV, 300mV, 500mV, 1Vac, and 50mA, 100mA, 1A or 5Aac. Additionally, it performs 0.2S and 0.5S class of accuracy as revenue-grade, complying with IEC61869-2 and ANSI C57.13 standards. The JPS series’ applications are renewable energy power monitoring, electrical vehicle charging stations, distribution circuit metering, power quality metering, LV/MV substations, etc.

With using hall effect sensor technology, the JPS series for measuring DC current will be also launched in addition to AC current.

JRFS-RM series revenue-grade Rogowski coil

The JRFS-RM series is an exciting addition to J&D’s existing product line-up, providing J&D’s customers with an easy-to-install alternative to the conventional high current revenue-grade(rigid) split-core CT. The JRFS-RM series offers a wide range of rated current from 500A to 10,000A with four inner diameter sizes including 120, 190, 300, or 500mm.

The dual air core achieves the revenue-grade accuracy while maintaining the desirable feature of ultra-easy and fast installation. Due to the flexible nature of the JRFS-RM Rogowski coil, it is perfect for large busbars and irregular-shaped conductor bundles. In addition, its small profile and light weight allow it to be used on conductors in tight spaces where rigid CTs simply will not fit.

The JRFS-RM series supports the secondary output values of 333mVac as standard and 100mV/250mV as options. Additionally, it performs 0.2S and 0.5S class of accuracy as revenue-grade, complying with IEC61869-2 and ANSI C57.13 standards. The JRFS-RM series’ applications are renewable energy power monitoring, electrical vehicle charging stations, distribution circuit metering, power quality metering, LV/MV substations, etc.

JRFS-RM series with the built-in integrator version also will be launched for simple and fast isntallation.

 

CTid option available for JPS and JRFS-RM

CTid is an option that identifies that a CT was installed correctly, on which port(on the meter)and the polarity. In addition, CTid also automatically shows amp rating, rated output as well as model information. When used with eGauge Energy Monitoring Meters, CTid facilitates an accurate installation as well as fast trouble-shooting if there are installation errors. CTid can be installed on J&D CT JPS series(JPS-ID version) and JRFS-RM series(JRFS-RM-ID version) as an option when being used along with eGauge Energy Meters.

 

JAGUAR 6300 series

JAGUAR 6300 series is the high precision power quality meter, which is compatible with J&D JPS series and JRFS-RM series CTs. It can measure the various electrical parameters such as sag/swell, THD(Total Harmonics Distortion), crest factor, and K factor. Additionally, the JAGUAR 6300 offers data logging and wave capturing features, making it an excellent tool to perform accuracy analysis and diagnosis for energy management and power instruments.

JAGUAR 6300 series is the power quality meter complying with IEC61000-4-30 as class S and complies with IEC61557-12 which is a standard for “performance measuring and monitoring devices”. JAGUAR 6300 series communicates over Ethernet and it forms as ringing communication so that i could measure the data in real-time. Optionally, JAGUAR 6300 can use other communication modules beyond Modbus RTU Protocol.
